Collaborative Artist: Liz Carlson
Liz Carlson is an NYC-based director and producer of new work for the stage. As a director, Liz has helped develop plays and musicals including the Drama Desk-nominated SeaWife by Seth Moore and The Lobbyists, which had a site-specific performance in New York City’s South Street Seaport and subsequent showings on Nantucket and in the 2019 NAMT Festival. She has assisted and directed new work with Ars Nova, The Dramatists Guild, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Flea, Keen Company, Manhattan School of Music, Manhattan Theatre Club, The New Group, Playwrights Horizons, The Playwrights Realm, Signature Theater Company, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and more. As a producer, Liz was the Artistic Director for Naked Angels (2013-2016) and now serves as the Artistic Producer for New York Stage and Film (NYSAF). With NYSAF, Liz helps to curate all artistic selections for the summer Powerhouse Season at Vassar College and year-round NYC-based programming. She leads logistical support and assists with dramaturgy, creative manifestation, and administrative support for over 40 new plays and musicals each year. With NYSAF, Liz has helped develop such works as the Pulitzer-finalists The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe and Taylor Mac’s A 24-Hour Decade History of Popular Music, and has supported artists including César Alvarez, Ngozi Anyanwu, Liza Birkenmeier, Emily Feldman, Keelay Gipson, Jessica Huang, The Lobbyists, Donja R. Love, Brian Quijada, Christina Quintana (CQ), Harrison David Rivers, Annie Tippe, Korde Arrington Tuttle, and more. MFA The New School for the Performing Arts, Drama.
